Future Heathrow

In response to the Department for Transport's consultation announcement announcement, Clive Soley said:

"This consultation is the start of a very important process concerning the future of everyone in the Heathrow region. Heathrow is the gateway to the global economy and creates jobs and prosperity throughout the UK, with 72,000 jobs at the airport alone. This proposal for expansion can only proceed if it meets all the tough new noise and environmental conditions set by Government and continues to do so. Failure to expand Heathrow is not an option."

David Wilshire MP: Heathrow needs a third runway

On last night's Channel 4 News MPs Ian Taylor and John Redwood questioned Tory opposition to a third runway for Heathrow. On ConservativeHome next week Shadow Transport Secretary Theresa Villiers will defend the policy and her plan for a £20bn high speed rail alternative.
